Profile:
Bettina joined IEEP in November 2010 as a Policy Analyst working jointly with the Climate Change and Energy Programme and the Agriculture and Rural Land Management Programme. Her work at IEEP focuses on bioenergy issues. Bettina has a background in economics, and specifically the evaluation of biofuel and bioenergy policies. She is in the final stages of a PhD in environmental economics (University of Kiel).
From 2007 to 2010 Bettina worked at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in the research area for the Environment and Natural Resources, working on a project entitled ‘NaRoLa: Renewable resources and Land Use – Integration of bioenergy into a sustainable energy strategy’. During her time in Kiel, Bettina acquired knowledge in quantitative economic analysis in the field of computable general equilibrium modeling and econometrics. She has also completed a 5 month traineeship within the Renewable Energy Unit of DG Energy at the European Commission, working specifically on the sustainability criteria for biofuels and the development of action on ILUC.
