Liz Mills is a freelance policy analyst specialising in European policy and funding for local sustainability and 'the territory', especially the urban environment. She has worked with the European Commission's Expert Group on the Urban Environment and associated local authority networks since 1993, and in 1997-99 led the urban environment team in DG Environment. Work in the UK covers, for example, Structural Funds programming, planning, and the development and implementation of international exchange of experience projects. For ODPM she was UK Contact Point for the INTERREG IIIC inter-regional cooperation programme 2002-04. A geographer by training, Liz previously worked in academic research and university teaching in public policy, including 10 years at Bristol University, specialising in local government.
