About IEEP's Climate Change Team

The Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) is an independent not for profit institute dedicated to advancing an environmentally sustainable Europe.

IEEP’s diverse research team are expert in climate policy, focusing both on mitigation and adaption challenges. Our cross sectoral team has expertise ranging from the appropriate use of policy tools and budgetary financing, technical analysis of climate science and technological solutions to linked actions such as the evolution of agricultural, biodiversity and marine policy.

Since 2003 IEEP has worked for the European Parliament (Directorate General for Internal Policies, Directorate A - Economic and Scientific Policy) under three successive framework contracts offering independent support to MEP’s sitting on the ENVI Committee. Under these contracts IEEP offered a range of support services including detailed reports, policy briefings and workshop organisation and chairing. This complements analysis for the European Commission, European bodies such as the IMPEL Network and the EEA, Member State governments and their regulatory agencies, NGOs and other think tanks.

In addition to offering insights and analysis of the European policy dynamic, IEEP also conducts detailed independent research into Europe’s efforts to promote climate action. In so doing we aim to help define future policy action and promote best practice approaches to implementation at the national level. Key research priorities of the Institute at present include:

In addition to the MEPs involved and their assistants we would like to specifically thank the following: aloof design for their vision and support in developing all designs; the European Climate Foundation for funding this initiative and its support throughout the work; and the GLOBE network for their expert insights.
